Background

The first civilization that used an artificial body part were the Egyptian. An egyptian mummy was found with an artificial toe. An artificial leg was dating back to about 300 B.C. It was made out of bronze and iron, with wooden cores for below the knee amputees. They were made to replace a body part that was lost in war or to dieases. There has been vast improvements on artificial limbs. They were able to move with strings, then screws and now most of them us brainwaves or signals. With all these new technogcial advances were are able to do things with artificial that were impossible just 50 years ago. With technology like 3-D printers and brainwave detecting equipment scientists hope to be able to make human like limb that can feel, move and look like a normal human limb. [1]
