Artificial limbs are very important advancements in the medical field, but like all inventions they come with their issues. The social issues with artificial limbs are that they come with stereotypes. Many people with artificial limbs face discrimination because they are "different" from the rest of society. In many undeveloped countries, people with artificial limbs are considered to be a menace or dangerous. They are stereotyped sometimes because they are a burden to their own families. Statics show that people with prosthetic or a disability are more 10 times more likely to be unemployed.There are many cases around the world of people being bullied, harassed, assaulted or even killed because of their prosthetic. These people are usually left to be socially isolated because they are different. [3]

The ethical issues with artificial limbs are that artificial limbs are expensive and are not affordable for everyone. The cost for a new artificial limb can cost from 5000-50,000 dollars. This cost can add up over a lifetime because the new artificial limbs built can only handle 3-5 years of wear and tear. This many cost financial problems for people with low wages or incomes. The upper class is more likely to be able to afford these artificial limbs and lower classes may have to struggle to purchase one of these artificial limbs. There are many people with artificial limbs that are homeless because they could keep up with all their bills. Some people may have to make the tough direction to not get the artificial limbs. Legal Issues

The legal issues with artificial limbs is that there's that much government plans that help with the expenses of the artificial limb. The most private insurance companies will cover is about 2500-5000 dollars a year. This barely covers the total amount the prosthetic limb. The government has been trying to pass a few laws that will improve the overall coverage of the prosthetic limb. All prosthetic or artificial limbs are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. They run all the testing and approve if the  product is safe to use. FDA is also has strict rules about marketing the artificial limbs and you will need their approval if you want to market any sort of prosthetic. [4]
